Ultrasonic scalpel

An ultrasonic surgical device (ultrasonic scalpel) is a piece of clinical surgical equipment that uses ultrasonic energy for hemostatic dissection and coagulation of soft tissue. It can be used to cut soft tissues other than bone and fallopian tubes, and to cut and seal vessels up to 7 mm in diameter. It is widely used in various open and endoscopic surgeries.
Compared with traditional hand-held devices or devices powered by other energy sources, the ultrasonic scalpel provides greater precision, less smoke output, and no electrical current passing through patients' bodies, resulting in greater safety for patients and greater convenience for surgeons.
The working principle of ultrasonic scalpel is that the blade of ultrasonic scalpel is mechanically vibrated at the ultrasonic frequency of 55.5 kHz, then the water molecules in the tissue are evaporated, the hydrogen bond of the protein is broken, the cells are disintegrated, so that the tissue is cut or coagulated.

Compared with high-frequency electrosurgical knife, lancet and hemostat, ultrasonic scalpel has the following advantages:
1. Ultrasonic scalpel performs various functions of vessel coagulation, clamping, separation and other surgical operations. When using an ultrasonic scalpel, surgeons do not need to change equipment during the operation, which simplifies the operation and reduces operating time;
2. When the ultrasonic scalpel works, it does not emit smoke, and the vision of the operation is clear;
3. The tissue temperature is below 100℃ when operating the ultrasonic scalpel, and the lateral thermal damage range is within 1mm;
4. The principle of ultrasonic scalpel sealing blood vessels is to denature and coagulate proteins, the blade and tissue will not stick together, which will not cause scab tearing off and will not cause bleeding, so as to reduce the risk of infection, bleeding and post-operative drainage, promote wound healing. Ultrasonic scalpel is the first choice for minimally invasive surgery due to its irreplaceable performance advantages.
Ultrasonic scalpel is widely used in surgery, such as gastrointestinal reconstruction and hepatobiliary resection in general surgery, tumor resection and lymph node dissection in breast surgery, kidney resection in urology, etc., ultrasonic scalpel has outstanding performance advantage, which can increase the safety and effectiveness of the operation, as well as improve the quality of life of patients after surgery.

Higher cutting speed
The average dissection speed of SoniCure™ is 3.87 seconds, while the world famous J Brand ultrasonic scalpel has an average dissection speed of 4.25 seconds. The data were obtained from a comparison of ex vivo dissection experiments of porcine small intestine with 30 specimens each. Experimental results show that there is no statistical difference in dissection speed between SoniCure™ ultrasonic scalpel and top-notch international brands.

Reliable sealing of vessels
SoniCure™ SC100E has a special energy control algorithm for vascular tissue. Thanks to precise energy control and appropriate jaw pressure, excellent and reliable vascular closure is achieved. The burst pressure test was adopted for the leak-tightness of the vessel. Experimental results showed that the burst pressure of SoniCure™ was higher than that of the J Group brand, regardless of whether the artery or vein was ≥ 3 mm or between 2-3 mm. All burst pressure values exceed 1100 mmHg. Art., which is more than 8 times the normal systolic pressure of the human heart.

Less thermal damage
The range of thermal damage was measured by histopathological evaluation method, and the distance from the point of tissue degeneration furthest from the cutting edge to the cutting edge was measured, and the results of typical cases are shown in the figure below. Experimental results show that the thermal damage range of SoniCure™ SC100E in sealing blood vessels and dissecting liver tissue is less than 1 mm, which meets the requirements of clinical application.
